🌼Herb by Herb : Chamomile — The Gentle Healer

🌼Herb by Herb : Chamomile — The Gentle Healer

Growing Your Own Medicine Series | Star Child Holistic Collection

Chamomile is soft.

She doesn’t shout.She doesn’t force.She soothes.

Chamomile is the herb of peace, rest, and restoration — a sacred plant that teaches us that healing doesn’t always have to be loud or intense. Sometimes healing is simply laying down, breathing deeply, and letting your nervous system remember safety.

For generations, chamomile has been used in homes across cultures — including Caribbean kitchens — as a tea for sleep, stomach aches, babies with colic, anxious minds, and weary spirits.

Chamomile is comfort in plant form.

🌿 What Chamomile Supports

Chamomile is known to:

• Calm anxiety and nervous tension

• Support restful sleep

• Ease digestive discomfort and bloating

• Reduce inflammation

• Soothe skin irritation

• Relieve menstrual cramps

• Support emotional overwhelm

In spiritual practice, chamomile is also used for:

• Peace in the home

• Gentle protection

• Attracting calm relationships

• Sweetening difficult situations

Chamomile carries a soft but powerful energy — like a grandmother humming in the kitchen.

🌱 Growing Chamomile at Home

Chamomile is easy to grow and incredibly rewarding.

German Chamomile (best for tea)

• Grows like a wildflower

• Loves full sun

• Self-seeds easily

• Harvest the flower heads

Roman Chamomile

• Low-growing, almost like a ground cover

• Perennial

• Great for garden borders

Plant in well-drained soil and don’t overwater. Chamomile thrives when you don’t micromanage her.

Harvest when the flowers are fully open — dry them upside down in bundles.

☕ Simple Chamomile Tea Ritual

Ingredients:1 tablespoon dried chamomile flowers1 cup hot waterRaw honey (optional)

Steep for 5–10 minutes.

Before drinking, hold the cup in your hands and say:

“I release stress. I welcome peace. My body is safe.”

Sip slowly. No scrolling. No noise. Just you and the medicine.

🌙 Chamomile for the Nervous System (Especially in This Economy)

We are living in times that keep our nervous systems on edge — bills rising, uncertainty everywhere, responsibilities heavy.

Chamomile reminds us:

You are allowed to rest. You are allowed to soften. You are allowed to breathe.

Healing doesn’t require hustle.

Sometimes the most radical thing you can do is make tea and go to bed early.

✨ Chamomile in Hoodoo & Spiritual Practice

In traditional spiritual work, chamomile has been used in:

• Floor washes for peace in the home

• Baths for calming heated emotions

• Money-drawing rituals (yes, calm attracts clarity)

• Sleep sachets under pillows

Chamomile clears agitation so you can think clearly and move intentionally.

When your spirit is calm, your decisions are powerful.

🌼 Star Child Closing Reflection

At Star Child Holistic Collection, we believe medicine can be gentle.

Chamomile represents the softness Black women often weren’t allowed to have.

But softness is sacred.Rest is resistance.Peace is power.

You don’t have to be strong every moment. You can be soothed.

Grow chamomile.

Dry her.

Drink her.

Let her remind you who you are when you’re not in survival mode.

With softness and restoration,

🌿 Jasmine & Scott Coleson
